Our responsibility

At SKINIUS, working does not only mean carrying out our tasks professionally. It means putting love into everything we do to offer you products that are made well and for good. Our attention and care translate into gestures, attentions, initiatives and projects that, day after day, distinguish us for the quality of our work and our products.

Find out here how and why we want to work, for you, responsibly.

In all skinius offices

  • we adopt a plastic free approach: we do not use disposable cups or spoons, preferring recycled and recyclable materials for food and drinks. We also encourage the use of water bottles and public water for staff.
  • We carry out separate collection of paper, plastic and glass, striving to minimize the consumption of unused office paper and to purchase it from FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified suppliers.
  • We periodically replace electrical and electronic devices when they have reached the end of their life, so as to contain the environmental impact. If they are still usable, we donate them to schools, oratories or people in difficulty.
  • The toner in our printers is certified by the Green World Alliance Program, a company program that recovers and recycles cartridges and inks.

For our products

  • we choose packaging that minimizes product waste and we prefer the use, where possible, of recycled and easily recyclable components (after separating the glass, plastic, cardboard components).
  • Our packaging, shopping bags and brochures are all printed on FSC mixed certified paper, as reported on the label. This means that our cartons do not come from illegal tree cutting but controlled processes that guarantee, under the control of an international body, the scheduled replanting of the cut trunks.
  • we do not use the traditional plastic film that covers the boxes of many dermocosmetics, thus reducing the use of plastic and making it easier to dispose of the cartons.

The packaging chosen for cosmetics represents 20% of the sector's greenhouse gas emissions, while transport and the choice of materials account for 10%. (Quantis for Cosmetica Italia, 2020) .

Our sprays work thanks to BOV (Bag-on-Valve) technology which uses only natural compressed air, without additives, guaranteeing up to 99% emptying of the product, optimizing costs and avoiding waste.

Our glass airless bottles boast a patented technology that avoids contact with air to protect the formula and reduce the use of preservatives. This allows for complete use without waste, reducing the percentage of residue with a product return rate of over 95%. Last but not least, the strong ecological value of the packaging thanks to a post-consumer recycling system that allows separating glass from plastic.

Containers that do not allow for the correct dosage or products that require a lot of water to be rinsed are responsible for 40% of the sector's greenhouse gas emissions. (Quantis for Cosmetica Italia, 2020).

This is why, where possible, we have chosen packaging that can facilitate these processes during the use of our products.

This is why we have chosen to keep our packaging essential, without adding elements that we consider superfluous, such as plastic film.

To limit the quantity of sun filters used in our products while still maintaining high protection from UV rays, we have adopted a formulation technology that promotes a booster effect and allows the use of a lower concentration of filters for the same protection.

Society

We guarantee a “100% made in Italy” skincare production chain for all the processes and even for the design of the formula and packaging: everything is made in Italy. This differentiates our approach from the common “Made in Italy” indication, which requires only the “substantial processing” of the product to be made in Italy.

All our formulas are dermatologically tested and, in particular, their tolerability is tested on a panel of consumers with sensitive skin, in line with the indications developed by specialized Italian dermatologists and research institutes.

All our formulas are developed to contain the risk of allergies and, in particular, our fragrances are free of allergens, that is: if present, they are lower than the limits that the European Regulation prescribes not to exceed for consumer safety.

For us it is important to work in a healthy environment, which allows all colleagues to have spaces to relax. For this reason in our offices we have created an “Office Garden”: a green corner where you can meet and breathe, temporarily disconnecting from the rhythms of work.

Governance

The factories where our products are manufactured are all certified according to the ISO 9001 standard, which attests to the existence of a Quality Management System for processes according to international standards.

Our Italian suppliers are chosen as close as possible to our offices, not only to reduce the environmental impacts related to logistics, but also to allow us to carry out quality controls directly on site.

We have always been Italian and privately owned, and we will remain so. Our great strength is being a family business with a short decision-making chain, thanks to integrated and complementary management skills.

We have a long-term vision, based on the multiplicity of services offered and on the attention towards human capital and social issues of the territory. We are fast, receptive, punctual and flexible, ready to invest in the future and in innovation. With science and conscience.

The above is part of a voluntary effort that SKINIUS undertakes to go beyond current legislation, adopting even more virtuous practices.

Furthermore, regulations and laws whose compliance is mandatory for everyone require European producers to:

  • Do not test products on animals
  • Only place on the market products assessed as safe for human health
  • To place on the market products whose claimed efficacy has been evaluated
  • Manufacture products in compliance with “Good Manufacturing Practices”

These legal obligations are valid throughout the European territory as they are provided by the Community legislator in the interest of the consumer: we thought it right and pertinent to mention them to inform the consumer of the protections adopted by the industry in order to encourage a confirmed trust in the companies that are part of it and that market cosmetic products in the European Union.
