Among skin types, combination and oily skin is usually the one that causes the most difficulty because its imperfections are clearly visible. Let's learn about it.
How to understand if you have oily skin? What appears to the eye is an impression of grease, often with dilated pores, pimples and blackheads.
It is a skin type that is particularly widespread among teenagers and young people, due to the hormonal storm that is experienced in these periods of life. This does not mean that there are no adults with oily skin that continues to bother them.
Oily skin, causes of this blemish
Oily or combination skin, especially with acne-prone skin, appears due to the formation of a thicker-than-normal hydrolipidic film . This hinders proper transpiration, making the skin greasy and sometimes causing bad odors.
In adolescents, this happens because of an excess of hormones that stimulate the seborrheic glands to produce more than they should. In these cases, it is often a transitory phase, accompanied by pimples on the face.
However, it is not uncommon to have oily skin problems even in adulthood. If for kids it is a temporary embarrassment, those who do not know how to treat oily skin once they become adults will always find themselves with a large amount of blemishes.
But don't worry: the world of dermocosmetics has made great strides in the management of oily skin with cosmetic products that help control sebum production.
Oily facial skin and more
We are often used to thinking that the type of skin can be recognized by a person's face. However, this is not always the case, or at least not only. In addition to the face, the characteristics of oily skin can appear in other parts of the body: for example, the back. Here, even in this case, fighting oily skin with the right products is useful to remedy the embarrassment.
Oily skin can also appear suddenly, in areas of the body where it has never been seen before. This happens during periods of particular hormonal ferment , such as in young women. In these cases, it is a good idea to add the antiaging effect to the cream for oily skin that is usually used. Men's skin should not be forgotten: the skin on a man's face can be oily just like that of a woman, both in adolescence and in later years.
Types of oily skin
Such a complex type of skin, affected by numerous imperfections and a practically constant alteration of the seborrheic glands, creates different situations that must be divided by dermatologists into 5 types of oily skin.
- Oily skin : the layer of hydrolipidic film on the face or other parts of the body appears significant but not excessive: in short, it remains quite fluid, giving the oily appearance.
- Seborrheic type of oily skin: here the seborrheic glands work at full blast, producing so much sebum that it clogs the pores. Then the imperfections typical of oily skin appear, such as pimples, enlarged pores and blackheads.
- Oily asphyxiated skin: it is a mix of oily but dry skin, which occurs when the sebum produced remains trapped in the follicles. The result is areas of the body with oily skin and others with dry skin, for a particularly difficult skincare.
- Impure skin with a tendency to acne: alterations in sebum production manifest as pimples or acne. This is the most common type of oily skin among young people and the very young and can be treated with a targeted treatment.
- Combination oily skin: this is a particularly complex type of skin because it has characteristics of all those listed. It requires special attention in skincare and daily care.
